Peñasco Theatre was founded to provide opportunities for the diverse residents of the rural, marginalized Peñasco region. Programs serve youth ages 5-18 from Picuris Pueblo and other areas in southern Taos County. The diverse programs include aerials, dance, acrobatics, stilt- walking, devised physical theater, visual art, poetry , storytelling, costume design, movie making and puppetry. Fifty plus participants received scholarships. No one is turned away for lack of funds. A total of 21 youth scholarships totaling $9,975 and 11 teens scholarships totaling $2,618. Overall, nearly $17,000 distributed in scholarships and subsidies.
